01/16/2003 Entry: "Slow modem, slow mind"

So I finally got the first editing pass done on the Drift-half last weekend. It took longer than I expected because I kept mentally having to leap up and run screaming from the room, and then gently but firmly had bring myself back to the computer and tell myself, "It's okay, it's not that scary, you can deal with it." ^^;;; I also realized that part of my problem is that I just wasn't comfortable working on the Drift on the commuter train, so it had to wait until I had a big chunk of time at home. But anyway, that's out of the way. One more pass over 16 and then the Drift once more, and then I should finally be willing to let somebody else look at it. *falls over* At least next week will be press inspection, which is usually a good and productive trip for me.

This weekend I'm going to be at Arisia in Boston; I'm leaving tomorrow morning. My connection is being remarkably squirrelly tonight, so I'm probably not going to be able to finish the emails I wanted to get done before I go. *sigh* Story of my life....

I'm not really quite as *thud* as I'm probably coming off here, though I'm pretty close. It was just a very stressful day at work--you know those dreams where you're trying to do something, and no matter what you just can't quite manage to get it done? like that--and I find that I'm still somewhat burned-out, more so than I thought I was. So I really, really, *really* need this con.
